Burma Bound Again

Heading back to Myanmar (aka Burma) tonight on the red eye. Really looking forward to spending time with existing partners, meeting new contacts, and witnessing the changes Myanmar has experienced since my last visit in 2015.

I'm especially excited to visit EE's new sponsored library up north in Myitkyina, Kachin State. Fighting between the ethnic Kachin and government military has, unfortunately, resumed after the cease fire in 2012. Our partner Naw Cynthia has made significant strides in orienting local Kachin children and parents to the bounty of benefits of a library, hoping to bridge the distrust of the Kachin towards anything Burmese, including the written language.
