Melody Mociulski, Chair & Founder
A native of the Seattle area, Melody worked for the City of Seattle for twenty-four years prior to retiring in 2004. Her career with the City included a combination of procurement, finance, human resource and
social service roles.
After extensive consultant work as a procurement subject matter expert and volunteer support to Clear Path International (CPI), Melody joined the CPI staff as SE Asia Program Director in 2008. Over the next four years, Melody provided strategic direction and management of CPI’s victim assistance programs in Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, and Lao PDR, representing $1+ million projects, 6 donors, 7 implementing partner organizations, and a staff of nationals in Vietnam.
Following her passion to provide educational opportunities for children in SE Asia, Melody founded Educational Empowerment in March 2012.

Sandy Schubach, Secretary & Founder
A strong advocate for social responsibility, Sandy has a long history of volunteer roles ranging from Guardian Ad Litem in the King County courts to videographer, filming footage in SE Asia for a local NGO. She has served her community through Board Director and committee positions with Bainbridge Community Foundation, Westsound Wildlife Shelter, Bainbridge Island Land Trust, and Islandwood, an outdoor environmental education center. Sandy has spent endless hours in the classroom as an art docent and as a para-educator in a transition program for developmentally disabled young adults.

Laurie Miller, Treasurer & Founder
Laurie is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA and over 25 years of experience in her field. She is happy to be on board with EE, especially after her trip to SE Asia last year. Laurie is also Senior VP of Finance & Operations at IslandWood, a 255 acre nonprofit residential center focused on life-long learning in the outdoors. She serves as the operational leader of the year-round, seven day-a-week facility, overseeing delivery of programs, as well as the administration, finances and human resources of the organization. Laurie is also currently a partner in the philanthropic organization, Social Venture Partners. She has two adult children, Chris and Kim, and spends her leisure time playing tennis, running and hiking.
